Hi,
I have a Linksys wireless card for school, since the library and engineering buildings have wireless networks, along with other buildings. I have not yet installed it, but I was reading through the the quick guide, and it was talking about setting it up with a network.
Now it talks about choosing Infrastructure mode or Ad-Hoc mode, along with SSID, and security. Is this something that I'll have to ask my school about as to what to use? Or can I just install drivers and stick it in my laptop? Questions also apply with using it with hotel networks?
Also, is it possible to just install the drivers and not have to go through that setup if you can go that route?
I'd also like to not see anyone else's computer on the network, or have mine seen while on the wireless network. Is being on a different workgroup going to be able to let me do that, or would I have to set up the card for that as well?
