I've tried a few of those things, or options there, nothing has changed. The full screen width banner saying it can't be run still appears.

Didn't work. I deleted all copies of the download, and the old file as well. Windows update, and try again. Now, it did print, but not the carefully crafted Christmas circular I needed, but half a page of random "characters" some of which were identifiable letters. Still, some progress at least.
Aggh, given up for now and posted the cards without the circular. Date is moving on and the cards all have to go to different countries so a couple of days at least to get there. I'll send the letter in the new year when I can get the printer to print what I want rather than what it currently prints.
yeah it's the ole' update windows , HP wants more money too, so they stop supporting the "old" stuff even though it is still in good working order, causing one to be forcing the consumer into buying a new item. Keep searching google for a driver, now that you know the steps in removing and adding a driver, you might be good and trying 3rd parties drivers or drivers found on a 3rd party web sight. the one that was we have drivers for everything with big flashy signs and lights.
Long shot, might not want to go this route, But I have had windows lesser version, I installed everything drivers included. then updated windows having windows take care of the compatibly issues of already installed working drivers to keep my drivers working. it is not a fail safe, it is just a crap shoot option.
but you went from 32 to 64, and does not that require a clean install? so that might just be me being wishful sharing.
