They have different features. I had an easy time downloading each one of them and installing. They didn't work on my notebook because they wouldn't shut down the screen but they work fine on my desktop. I use the KDE desktop and it's the same for each distribution, except perhaps in version number, which might be different. Mandrake and RedHat come with slightly different packages. I'm not sure about actual differences in the systems that they come with. I think that both come with all the major servers, you just have to choose what you want to install in the setup.
Dont you mean Mandrake ? Or is there another distribution of Linux that I don't know about?
.
Well Mandrake and Red Hat are now both very easy to install but it is said that Red Hat doesnt keep up with the security flaws as quickly. But I like them both Mandrake 8.2 and Red Hat 7.3 are both easy i would just flip a coin.

I don't know much about Red Hat, except that they didn't believe in the Linux desktop until the last few months... Which is kinda stupid, since Mandrake has been targetting it all along.
Anyhow, Mandrake was originally based on Red Hat, but now is quite different.
I find Mandrake to include the best packages, and *usually* has less bugs in it. For instance, Red Hat 7.3 shipped KDE 3, which had JUST been released and was buggy as hell. In my own experience, that is.
Mandrake 9.0 is due out around the 13th or the 15th, and it looks nice.
The next Red Hat will be out soon too, and it also looks nice. I'll probably try them both, as I try most distros, but I'm gonna probably stick with Mandrake. It has nicer features for installation, at least at the moment (such as the package selection disks DURING install - not after, like Red Hat).
Anyhow, really, if you can, try both distros. See which you like better.
Oh yeah, one reason that I would choose Mandrake is the very active community at http://www.club-nihil.net/mub/
I don't know if Red Hat has such a community, but I am sure it does somewhere.

They are both free operating systems. Why don't you try each one out. Download the iso images and burn each one to a CD as an iso cd. I did this with adaptec. I agree that the mandrake install is set up nicer since you can choose which servers that you want to include. I've been running Red Hat 7.3 for about 5 months I think. It's very good. A great operating system. It takes a while to learn how to use all the tools that come with it. I'm still trying to figure them out. There is a hell of a lot. Doesn't mandrake come with better games though? I think so.
i would have to say imho the best distro around would have to be debian
i have installed red hat 7.3 and could not believe how much slower my os ran as compared to debian even the boot was longer... and the mighty power of apt-get is whithout equal(maybe gentoo )
Hi everybody, Thanx for your replay.... and I choose to depond on RedHate on seting up the server that I I have....
Therefore I may ask you some more question about it in the future.... I want it to be my webserver...
Web server is a new thing that I would like to learn about, therefore I choose to have RedHate Lunix 7.3 on this server...
I would be able to take some notes and write them directly here, to make it available for everybody...
New Question: Is there any Good URL for RedHate as a webserver.???
Thanx a million.

I have used Mandrake (8.2) and now i have Redhat 7.3. I think redhat is better.
Them both are easy to install and use.
