Solved it. I searched cairo under applications and clicked on GLX-DOCK and enabled OPENGL and that fixed the display issue I was having.
UPDATE: Oops, Never mind. The dock comes up and displays a message saying no plug-ins were found and will close now.

Plug-ins provide most of the functionnalities of Cairo-Dock (annimations, applets, views, etc).

Since there is almost no meaning in running the dock without them the application will quit now.
I am going to hit google and see what I can come up with. Hopefully find a solution tonight.
