hey I would like can someone please help me with a program that i am doing.
the program is that we have 4 test grades and have to caluclate the total for each student and the total for each test that is in a input file.
so if there any one that can just give me some idea of where i need to start. i read the book but still lost.

Well, you'll need to be able to read files at the very least. And calculate the average of four numbers, if I've understood you correctly.
Perhaps start with reading the file and printing each number you find in the file . . . .
