validation problem

Hi guys i am having some problems trying to do some validation for a date in the dd/mm/yyyy format.

Basically i want the program to check whether the user has entered 2 digits before the / and then another 2 digits then the slash again. I also need to check that all together there is only 10 characters being inputted could someone give me any suggestions to how i would go this.

I tried using sscanf()... using that type of data checking did not work well. But how about if i use a tokenizer but how would i apply it how would i use it. Could someone give me a small piece of sample code to help me get the gist of things id appreciate it.

Or you could use fgets() and strchr() and atoi() . . . .

yehhh that was me and im still having trouble lol i didnt seem to work going the sscanf() way so i dunno wat to do next

Well post your latest sscanf attempt, and explain why you think it isn't working, and/or some example data.
Don't just announce in a thread "it doesn't work".

If you are on unix look into getdate(), which is pretty much as good as it gets for free for validating date input.
