Surely if he only turned back time in a certain part of existence, then that would cause some sort of catastrophic disparity between the earth and the rest of the universe.Originally Posted by Govtcheez

I'm of the belief that he actually flew around the whole universe, but the movie only showed him flying around earth because people wouldn't be able to comprehend him flying around the whole of existence.
I mean, c'mon - he's Superman!
<
and where does superman derive his "super" powers from? he most certainly CANNOT fly around the universe...
>I'm no expert, so whatever you say. The question is: Did he also go back in time?
ONLY SUPERMAN HIMSELF WENT BACK IN TIME!!! he used time travel theory based on relativity, using the earths gravity he propelled himself faster than the speed of light and therefore traveled back in time...
God you people are dense...

after all, programmers are mathematicians, since computers only understand numbers... if they canna figure out simple concepts like this, then those of us that can have more work coming our way.
though, the earth's gravitational well isn't strong enough to actually do this. he would have had to use the sun itself.

It's impossible to go faster than the speed of light. Besides, using that you can only go forwards. It's the same as being close to a black hole.
The general relativity theory only says that the closer to the speed of light you travel, the slower time passes for you. This doesn't mean that once you pass the speed of light (which by that same theory is impossible) you go backwards. At the speed of light, you stop (in time) and therefore connot travel any faster.

He's obviously using some sort of black hole portal to travel to neighboring universes. DUH. It's simple astro-physics.

I think I saw an article on /. about someone speeding up the speed of light. I just glanced over it, I could be wrong.
Hmm
On the contrary. Ever seen Space Balls? They went "PLAID", baby!Originally Posted by -=SoKrA=-

maybe you should spend less time on other's theory's and come
up with your own.
besides you can go faster then the speed of light acorrding to
that theory if your already going faster then it .
anyways a point id like to make, is if the BIG BANG THEORY
is correct, how do you explain the universe going from
the tiniest of particles, to billions of miles across in less
then a second, that would appear to be faster then the speed
of light?
General relativity doesn't work for immediately after the BB, IIRC.Originally Posted by ILoveVectors

doesnt work until immediatly after?
if that what you ment, then ok.
but if the theory can be false at certian time period,
then it can be false now, or in the future.
so i think there a way to do it, we will find it.
> doesnt work until immediatly after?
I said that it doesn't work in the time right after. As in, it doesn't work when the universe was expanding super-rapidly. I'm sure someone who's more versed in it can explain it better than me.
> so i think there a way to do it, we will find it.
So, as soon as we can recreate the big bang we'll be able to travel faster than light. We've just got to find a universe-sized room to do it in.

no faith, now im gonna have to create it myself, just to make
you unsatisfied.

apparent i should have elaborated on where Superman gets his powers..
Superman gets his "super powers" from the solar radiation... of our YELLOW sun... so he as soon as he's "so far" away from a yellow star he loses his powers and explodes in deep space... even Superman has his limits... jeez. n00b.

i've seen it too from somewhere else... didnt say much about making it faster though just that they did...

big bang stuff

TECHNICALLY if the "big bang" were the creation of the universe then one could argue that the laws of physics were not completely in play/existant yet BUT THEN you have to go before the "big bang" and ask what caused that and by what physical laws(and where did those come from) was it even possible?! and did those laws change after? depending on which of the many "big bang" theories you read it is a big confusing cyclic self destructive(literally) mess... that requires the laws of physics and universal constants to have been varied or different before and directly after the big bang. and there's really no way of knowing... and i am very wary of the science that says the so called "laws" of physics had to have changed in the past so current theory's can make sense... if the laws of physics are ........ing laws then make theories that work in those bounds and dont require "scientific miracles" to work... unless they have sufficient weight to disprove these "laws" and then they wouldn't be laws now would they?
edit: i could be wrong though... my "big bang" knowledge is probably a little out of date?
edit: but then if matter were the same just in a different form before the big bang then wouldn't it also be feasible that the laws of physics were they same under siginificantly different circumstances they were "warped"/"altered", before/during the big bangs EXTREME conditions... but this would lead to the fact that they could again be altered if the circumstances could be recreated or simulated, and in this context meaning that relativivity is false under the right circumstances, and they [the physical laws] are only applicable in the current universal state, which is out or our realm of understanding...

edit: maybe superman is god?
Hmm
