It plugs into my head and writes the code itself.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
If the direct mind-machine interface (or whatever your prefered term is) gets developed it will bring whole new meaning to the phrase "You need one of those like you need a hole in your head"
Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself.

Seriously though. It should be free. It should have an auto complete code deal so it auto types the standard code for you. It should also have a great setup utility.

*voice coding - speak and it is typed for you
*insert common code - eg insert message box code.
*Plain English error messages - eg instead of 30948Unreferenced parameters in call to 893738 GT()
it says "Hey! you missed a ';' on line 10"
*easy import for extended features
*Inteligent and helpful help

How about if it said "Hey! you missed a ';' and I fixed it for you. Plus, I noticed you didn't include a header file for one of your functions - it's included now too. Would you like a massage?"it says "Hey! you missed a ';' on line 10"

An intellegent IDE - yeah sounds good to start, but how about when M$ programs it to sell products and check up on you.
*This program would compile much better on the new version of Visual .NET. Click HERE to purchase an upgrade.
or
*This program has noticed that you have installed the same licenced copy of Windows on more than one PC belonging to your LAN. Both copies of Windows will now shutdown and you will not be able to reboot until you buy a new licence. Also, while you have been reading this I have emailed Microsoft and they are sending some guys around - later sucker.......
Combine Emacs and Scintilla and MSVC++, and you have my dream editor.
Specifically, I want the normal text editing stuff that emacs has, the code folding, syntax coloring, and programming language recognition that Scintilla has, and the pop down menu, class list, and project management of MSVC++.
All generalizations are false
type in what you want, and it'll be coded for you.
no need to learn C++ when the computer knows it for you.
Be anywere in the world, think of an Idea. 5 minutes latter everyone with a commpter (and a game console) has a working exe. That is uncrackable and will disapire if they choose not to pay for it.
Well since that won't happen soon I settle for

can use any programming lanugage
New one's can be added
can use any other editors formats
follows the standeards
has an auto complete
fixes command errors like ;
and very important It has a spell cheaker

lol, true aran... remember guys, i'm working with this guy on our project... he's the guy that's telling me what he wants, and i'm somehow supposed to understand his english and translated it to the computer screen...
oh, and i read this somewhere...
"if god intended us to program, he'd given us built in serial io ports..."
hehe...
hasafraggin shizigishin oppashigger...
emacs surports code folding I havn't tried it yet though.

I like emacs "because it formats the code the way I want it to". It is an order of magnitude more custimizable than visual c++, it has it's own language. Though my coding style is pretty standard, I think the gnu people would have a tough time coding in visual c++. Perhaps they would have to run there code through indent or something.
