a physics definition will give the best answer, but to answer your question if memory serves right:
electricity is a general term for electrical phenomena - 2 branches electrodynamics and electrostatics. As for the second part to your question energy in any form cannot be destroyed, i.e., converted to heat.

FUNNEEE, however it was actally the greeks who invented electricity but abandoned it after when pythagoros and is student couldn't find a rational expression to show the value of amps and wattage I know this to be true because i am a decendant of pluto. seriously.
