I have linux installed and running nicely, but it's not connected to the internet. I develop using it. What should I do with it now? Right now it's just taking up space. Can anyone suggest a time consuming fun thing to do with Linux?

-Save the whales. Collect the whole set.
Write a Windows emulator.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity unto the dream.
Connect it to the internet?
Uninstall it and try reinstalling it again. That should take up some time...
Then maybe you could write the installation files to a CD and shoot skit with them.
Play gnibbles, its under gnome I believe, thats a fun addictive game.
Or you can do what imperito said, get on the net.

About getting it on the internet, it's upstairs in our house and we'd have to drill holes through the ceiling to get the wire up. Wireless would be a solution. But my parents refuse to hook me, a 14 year old, up to the internet in the privacy of my own room.
Hmmph.

Setup a database (mysql, postgresql) and do some coding for database applications. Setup a webserver with Apache and PHP and create some webpages. Play some of the games in GNOME and KDE.
valar_king: I feel your pain. I'm 14 and my parents feel the same way. They think I'm going to stay in my room all day and play with my fluffy animals or something. Well, I might look at SOME, but.......anyway, I can't do my hacking on my main comp in the living room except for when my parents are gone to work (they both work third shift, but my brother is usually on the computer when they are gone, sooo, I have to wait until fall when he goes to college to do some good hacking). Of course, this isn't destructive hacking, I ask permission first, so it's all legal. But try explaining that to my stupid parents. I just need to get an 802.11b and install it on my main comp. I'll just tell my parents it's for communicating with RC equipment. They are so stupid they'll see that it has antennas and believe me. Ever since I started programming I can tell them stuff like this and they'll believe me.
Keep it clean.
You're right, this is the same what I have to tell to him.Originally posted by damonbrinkley

Hmm, try using mysql not just with php but with c/c++ this can be funny.
