i have the same cpu. at idle its about 40C, after heavy processing for like over an hour or so it gets up to 48C. i found documentation for this cpu on intel's site (intel.com) and i think as long as you don't reach 60C you're ok.
by the way, the above is without tweaking anything either (no overclocking).
Ya it's not tweaked, so then I'm Sittin' Pretty
How do you find out your CPU temp?
you can usually find that info. in bios. you could also check out the maker of your motherboard and maybe go to there website to see if they have any apps/utilities that can retrieve this info.
HAH! (sorry) yep you should be able to see it everytime you boot(reboot), dependant on motherboard......mine can run at 56 happily....but i have shut down set at 65 degrees. i run 1800xp AMD.....NO MORE POLLS ON WHICH IS BEST! lol. It runs happily quite hot, and i never have 2 use my other cooling stuff!
oh yeh, if it boots too quick to see temp, enter bios to get a reading.

Such is life.
my cpu makes a faint squealing noise depending on levels of processing. i know for a fact that it is not the fan. for one thing the noise is not constant, and the noise will happen when my cpu usage is at 100% (from windows task manager). can anyone tell me what's wrong?

It could be that the hamster wheels are a little bit rusty. Have you tried a little oil?
Blue
i swear, this solid state device is making a squeaking noise!
BAH-hamsters are old hat now..
i got me a wind up dynamo version, but the solution is the same
a bit of oil...
