I could do with the help of an expert. Both of my Cd drives (ROM and RW) went on the blink at the same time. They have power as the tray opens and shuts but when I put a CD in and try to open/run it, the computer doesn't acknowledge that there is a CD present and believes the drive to be empty. I have tried the following:

put HD on IDE 1 and CDROM on IDE 2 (Both as master)

Put HD on IDE 1 and CD RW on IDE 2 (Both as master)

put HD on IDE 1 as master and CDROM on IDE 1 as slave.

put HD on IDE 1 as master and CDRW on IDE 1 as slave.

Swapped the two IDE cables over and tried the following:

Tried HD on IDE 1 and CD ROM on IDE 2 (both as master)

Tried HD on IDE 1 and CD-RW on IDE 2 (both as master)

In all cases the HD worked fine but the CD drives stayed the same. I also checked the bios with each configuration and the drives always showed up correctly.

Any ideas on the root of the problem? Could it be a problem with windows?

Thanks
