    const vs #define

    I've used #defines before, but have recently come across the use of const, and was wondering what the effective difference between the two is. Obviously, #define gives you a label to work with, whereas with a const variable declaration you need to still use the variable name, but... is that the only difference?

    Can anyone help me with this one? Thanks!

    Among other things, macro names do not obey the rules of scope, but variables declared const exist within a well defined scope.

"Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.
