Download the API?
what you mean??
All you need to program with API is a compiler suporting API (normaly with the windows.h and other include files)

No, the documentation of the API. Which is the MSDN library. I just want to have a handy reference on my computer so I don't have to go online to get the reference. Thanks...

There's also the platform sdk on the MS site, on which you can download the newest version of the API or just the documentation, go to
Platform SDK site
You can untick everything except the documentation if you want, and that's an exact replica in hlp form of the online MSDN library. Dont know if it's the same as the books suggested by jester.
You can't download the full version of MSDN. It comes on DVD or CD with MSVC, or if you have an MSDN subscription.
Robert, I can't find anything about unticking and then downloading. All I can see are the download options but nothing to do with the MSDN library. Could you help me out a litte more? ThanksOriginally posted by Robert602

From the link that Robert has given you, click "Core SDK", "Install This SDK", then after a moment you'll get the "Confirm Install Selections" page where you can make your selections, where you want the SDK documentation. As I said above it won't say anything about MSDN because you can't download it, only sections of it.
why would you want to download the MSDN library when a version that is constantly updated and improved can be seen easily on the web? Maybe the only advantage of the installed version is the fact that it can be searched straight from within the application or that it doesn't require to be connected to the internet (unless you have cable like me, then you're alway connected )
just my thoughts...
Yeah well we dont all have cable....
Anyway....MSDN slows down to a crawl at times...
And I prefer the search option on the Dl version.......
