    Thanks for the suggestions..

Thanks for all the suggestions but after giving it a try for a while, I discovered that Dev-C++ and I are pretty incompatible, and it's resource editor leave much to be desired, and I usually use C++ more than straight C so I don't want to deal with that limitation that Lcc imposes. (i actually had lcc for a while but I outgrew it as i moved into learning C++) Are there independent resource compilers out there? I'm trying to find some on google and download.com but i can't seem to...

Also does anybody know when the next version of Vc++ is going to be released, is it soon or should i just buy version six now.

Why don't you just use Lcc for your resource editor and an other compiler for c++.

Are they releasing V7? I assumed it would all go over to studio.NET..........

I have V6 and for what I intend to do over the next 6 months, it does me fine

Thanks for the clarification on VC7 and .net, I think I may get VC6, and ArseMan the LCC Resource Editor isn't compatible with MingW, there are quite a few problems which have been encountered while combining them.
