    EditControl EM_GETLINE Problem

    I'm trying to read the contents of an edit control box line by line. The program I am reading from was written in Visual Basic, but my program is written in C. I'm having problems with EM_GETLINE. It works for the first line, but all subsequent line requests fail. This is what I'm calling:
    Code:
    printf("Chars copied: %d\n", SendMessage(hwnd, EM_GETLINE, (WPARAM) linenum,
           (LPARAM) (LPCSTR) &textName));
    Are there any alternative ways of reading text line-by-line from an edit control box?

    Figured it out. Turns out, I did not set the first word in the buffer. It had to be a 16-bit value representing the maximum number of bytes allowed in the buffer.
    New code:
    Code:

    textName[0] = (char) 80;
    printf("Chars copied: %d\n", SendMessage(hwnd, EM_GETLINE, (WPARAM) linenum,
           (LPARAM) (LPCSTR) &textName));
