Looks like some marketting scam - link takes you to somewhere quite different. Forget it.

The page he links to is the code black page... I'm guessing that it's your spyware-infested PC causing ya more problems, adrian.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

I get the same marketing scam page. And I don't think I'm infected with anything, since this is a University computer and they run their scans everyday.

    Run the above ad-adware.
I'll bet it finds atleast 70 spy-ware infections (which aren't monitored by most anti-viral software).

    >> I get the same marketing scam page.
There's one right there ... 69 to go

BTW - There were 14 on my computer after not running it for only a few weeks.

I use exactly the same, and Spybot Search and Destroy incidently. I have the 18/4 pattern file in AdAware 6.0. So, just ran AdAware scan, found 3 items, data miners, removed them, reloaded the page, guess what, exactly the same marketting page.

Great theory guys, no cigar today!

XSquared, Codeplug, you guys are not using IE, right?

When I click on the link using IE, it takes me to the marketing scam page.

However, when I click on the link using Mozilla Firefox, it takes me straight to the codeblack page.

Okay, I'm currently doing a course on software usability, so if I seem pedantic in my criticisms, sorry.

Firstly, if this was a just programmed for fun, then its pretty okay.

But I wouldn't use it because:

    1. You can't resize the program much. It only supports full screen and half screen.

    2. You can't move the program. Edit: Actually after reading Phoenix's follow-up, you can. But you have to drag the window via the bottom.

    3. Menus and title buttons are located at the bottom of the application. Normally, Windows applications locate them at the top of the application.

    4. The Menu system is funky. To access a menu, they have to click on Menu, then keeping holding the left mouse button and release it over the menuitem they want. This is a big no-no for people with physical disabilities.

    5. Green fonts and black background?

To further the investigation of the CodeBlack/Marketting crap thing, this morning, I put an Ethernet sniffer up on my system.

When I click on the link, I see a standard DNS query go out to koenbollen.isgreat.tv, and get a standard response back yielding the IP4 address. The address is in a block owned by Cogent Communications, Washington DC. The specific address appears to be in a pool let by a web hosting company called web1000.com.

Anyway, I then see an http/1.1 GET command go out to the server, this recieves a TCP/IP ACK, and gets an http/1.0 code 302 Object Moved response from the remote server, with the appropriate location details. I then, quite rightly, send a DNS query out on the returned name, get the IP for the marketting company, and the rest proceeds as normal.

We actually do make money directly. We do this on things like 404 error traffic and some non-United States traffic that many advertisers would not purchase anyhow (like Korean and Chinese traffic), which we turn into 404 traffic. You will notice that 404 traffic is directed to advertisers.
Not to put too fine a point on it, that sucks.
