How many times do I say this a day?

PROGRAMMING WINDOWS, FIFTH EDITION BY CHARLES PETZOLD!!

Ok, now that out of the way:

of course you can program WinAPI in C! it's actually ALL C, if you want to do MFC, though - that's C++-specific. but then again MFC is the devil. why use it?

I think Petzold needs to be added to the FAQ, it pops up just that little bit too much... Maybe there should be a books link in there, that has all the best books for GL, DX, API ect ect.
arrh, i got nothing good to say.

    >>> PROGRAMMING WINDOWS, FIFTH EDITION BY CHARLES PETZOLD!!

This is the standard book recomended by most people. I would always add a little rider to the reco though, and that is it does tend to assume you are using MS compilers. Some of the examples in the book do not work as they stand if you are using somebody else's products.
