OT: Windows Eatting up CPU Usage

Sorry, I know this is off-topic, but my computer is lagging so much 15 - 20 minutes after boot-up. This is after I had to format my entire HD due to adware from kazaa (even adaware couldn't totally get rid of it. ). Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or know where I can get information bout this type of thing? Thanks.

The most notable cause of delay I had with Windows versions prior to XP was due to searching/deletion of numerous files - 1000's of them or more. It seems as though the database that is created from the search is retained in memory and after such an operation, even editing a filename may take many seconds to respond. The larger the database, the longer the wait. Only restarting the OS solved the problem. Windows XP has no such problems that I am aware of.

Check the settings of the Peer to peer Networking Kazza installed (look in the control panel, there should be a PnPNetworking or similar).

Make sure you have it turned off at start up. Default is always on.

use kazaa lite it is spyware free but uses the same network.

Do you have norton personal firewall 2002 installed? It stuffed up my boot up like that. I got rid of it.
