    MSDN and .NET

I'd just like to know few things about MSDN and .NET... Firstly, is MSDN useful ( to programming C++ ), where in MSDN, how to use it and what can I find out there ? I've looked around but I don't see why it seems so useful, apart from the Library which gives your function syntax. Secondly, what's .NET, and anything related ?

    Thanks

In my opinion, MSDN is a programming resource second only to these forums. Everything you need to know about windows and c++ (as well as many other languages) is there, if you are skillfull enough to find it. There are plenty of technical articles, references, etc. What do you need to know specifically?

Well, I've found that MSDN is extremely useful for explaining functions and how they work, but it doesn't include everything. Otherwise, I definitely agree that these forums are better.

What, however, is the .NET framework ? A series of languages made to be portable on every OS, or something of the type ?

I think it's something like that. I wouldn't know, I still use Visual Studio 6.0. I just checked up on the price for VS .NET 2003, and it's pretty big. The cheapest, "Professional", costs a grand. I can't afford that at the moment, so I'm going to keep going with 6.0 until I either save up the money, or get an employ somewhere that has a license for it.

You probably don't need .NET for a while, so don't worry.

Obviously it's totally legal, or I wouldn't mention it here, would I ?
