Does anyone know the registry key that sets weather or not to pop up the "Ar you sure you want to delete" dialog box when you throw something in the recycle bin? I'm trying to read it out so that I don't pop up two dialog boxes by mistake.

Check the ShellState key which is located in HCKU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer. It is a REG_BINARY key. Monitor how this key changes as you check and uncheck the Display delete confirmation dialog checkbox in the Recycle bin properties.
I often use this nice util to discover what's being touched in the registry...
