Hey guys, my cd drive isn't working. How can I make sure that this is due to the hardware, or software?
I can't load anything from my cd drive, it doesn't even show up on windows explorer.
Thanks,
Joe

A quality job is not necessarily a *good* job. A quality job is, by definition, conformance to requirements. Therefore a *good* job, may not be a quality job.
Does it show up in the BIOS when you start the machine?

Were you messing around inside of your computer? Perhaps the IDE ribbon (or SATA cable) was knocked loose. As mat asked, does it show up in your BIOS? If not, does the drive open/close? If so, just check the connections in the back of the drive and in the motherboard. Make sure everything is secure.
