Whenever I boot up my system, before it gives the Windows loading screen, it runs down the hardware attached (HD, CD ROM, etc). Well, one of those devices is causing my PC to lag bigtime at startup. I get a black screen with a white blinking underscore in the top left corner for about two minutes before the Windows loading screen comes up. I originally thought my PC needed cleaning up. I did a complete Hard Drive wipe, rezeroed everything, removed partitions, and then repartitioned and reinstalled windows. The problem did not go away.
Is there any way I can pinpoint which device causes the lag? A way I can tell what is trying to be accessed during the black screen with the blinking underscore? are there BIOS logs or something I can look at, or have my PC actually display each process that occurs on the screen?
