Windows not using L2 cache memory

Hi, i just found out that windows xp isnt using the L2 cache memory. (its default on 0 @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\SecondLevelDataCache

Why is this? and does this mean that other applications wont use it either?

    Thanks already as basicly
