    Windows Update

When I go to windows update site and choose the type of updates (express and custom). Then it loads the updates, but the progress bar just keeps loading and nothing happens. I've waited for a very long time...

It's probably downloading the Windows Update update. Seriously!
Let it stay for something like 10 minutes.

You can also run services.msc from the run dialog box and check if you have both Automatic Updates and Background Intelligent Transfer services up and running. If not, start them.

Yes, Automatic Updates and Background Intelligent Transfer services are running (otherwise it displays an error). I'll try to let it load for some time then...

Edit: I wonder why Automatic Updates service is using up 99% of CPU...
...even if I am not trying to access the Windows Update site...

Loaded 20 minutes, then I got this error:
    [Error number: 0x8DDD0009]

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. Take the following steps to try solving the problem:
    Refresh the page.
In Internet Explorer, delete your Temporary Internet Files by going to the Tools menu and clicking Internet Options.
Close and then re-open Internet Explorer.

Beats me. Maybe follow the second advise.

Maybe it has much temporary files. I had the "amount of disk space to use" set to 1MB. Testing with a bit over 1GB.

    Mostly I'm using Firefox...

Ah, so you have to use Internet Explorer for Windows Updates, right?
    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/59/
Maybe that will work on Firefox...

The only problem, why Windows Update won't work on Firefox, is that Windows Update uses some ActiveX controls which won't work in Firefox. (I think IE is programmed to give microsoft sites special access rights.)

Umm... I don't have that problem anymore. I got a new computer, installed WinXP on it, but the only problem that I have is that the USB Wireless device won't work on it...
