    This is an urgent message from Slackware Linux

    SlyMaelstrom is connected to the internet!

    I've completed one of the most annoying things I've experienced with Linux, to date. I've configured my wireless LAN card in Linux. The funny thing is, I've had it configured just hours after I started this mess. The problem was my WPA key. But I managed to find a supplement to my Linux driver to accept my WPA key and I'm on, baby!

    Sorry, this message really had no point, I just had to express my feelings. Horray for me! Horray for you!

    Congratulations. I'm still trying to get WLAN drivers for my Gentoo install on my MacBook.

    Try ndiswrapper, though from what I heard your mileage may still vary.

    Oh, ndiswrapper looks Windows only.

    Wouldnt the Windows drivers not work on joeprogrammer's MacBook? I had the impression that the idea was to use those drivers that would work with Windows for the particular hardware, and then provide some interface layer such that they would work under Linux.

    Well, I think that I need the new_wlan_scan_sta module. This page has more information on getting hardware working on a macbook:

    The problem is that this module isn't included with the standard Linux kernel. I think it comes with the Madwifi package, but I haven't gotten around to compiling that yet.

    ndiswrapper, as far as I know, works only on x86, because it uses binary drivers and does not emulate an x86 CPU.
