Does anyone know of a free or open source firewall for windows? Preferably ndis but I can probably live without it.

I know Zone Alarm has a "free" version called Basic methinks. I haven' t heard of GNU widows firewall, however I haven't been looking. There was @guard once though but it sold it's soul to Symantec I believe.
Thanks--and not to be agressive, but zone alarm is pretty poor. I found something called sygate (which is now owned by symantec, but doesn't suck like norton) which seems quite good (for being free) so far.
Yes, sygate! I was thinking about it, but forgot its name. Good that you' ve found it though. I was using it before WinXp Sp2. (Believe it or not, since I am not undercover agent, or world destruction evil genius, windows firewall does work for me)
I had sygate for a while but it kept making my system lock up, so i switched to zone alarm
I don't know any open source. But my favorite free one, and the one I use, is Kerio Personal Firewall. It's precursor was Tiny Personal Firewall, maybe the best personal firewall of its time.

I would say iptables, but it's Linux-only
EDIT: Found an open-source firewall called FHK:
