Ditto until it blue-screened on me a couple of weeks ago while I was playing Vice City. Just suddenly, BLOO.

Uh oh... I hope this isn't a time related issue where the XPs are wearing down. Just like the PS2 disk read error issue.

Knowing Microsoft, they're probably causing these problems themselves to get people ready for Vista.

    ive come to 2 conclusions

on my last computer i never got any blue screens because i didnt isntall all the secruity updates. which was probally really smart. i installed a few of them this time (fresh installed everything) and microsoft probaly outbugged themself with tese updates.

OR its becasue i had a wireless keyboard which the wireless receiver plugs into the keyboard ps/2 slot. i also had this usb keyboard in because the batteries died and i havent gotten a chance to get some more double As, maybe having a keyboard in the ps2 slot and a keyboard in the USB slot at the same time caused problems?

Control Panel->System->Advanced Tab->Settings-> unselect "Automatically Restart" under the system failure section. That should allow you to see your BSOD and determine what is actually happening.

I don't want to start a flame or anything, but if you're unhappy with Windows, choose a different operating system. It's as simple as that.

I never install anything that Microsoft recommends. In fact, I don't even allow HP to update itself. I haven't had any problems.

Of course I have stories too. My HP computer arrived with a virus on it, and when I deleted Firefox from my computer I couldn't use the computer anymore. I don't know why that happened, but when I rebooted, an admin password was set. Of course I couldn't know what it was because the computer did that on it's own.

Luckily I have a set of system disks ready in case XP goes boom again.

This is the reason Windows has a bad security reputation. Users who don't understand anything.

I don't particularly like Windows either but lately I've had very few problems with it. Just keep it up to date, defrag + spyware scan + AV once a week and it runs sweet.

I am having one or two problems with games though.

i dont understand why by the time you install one of these secruity updates with windows theres atleast 2 more secruity updates to get, theres an endless amount of them and i feel like there just gonna create more problems.

i run other anti spyware and anti virus programs to take care of my secrtuity and i have a hardware firewall.

btw isince i havent gotten the blue screen since unplugged my 2nd keyboard thing plugged in. my guess is that was the problem
