    Lightbulb Hard Drive Partitioning

    Just a very general question.

I have a 120GB hDD on my WindowsXpSP2 system, this is my slave drive.
I am currently using 75GB of needed unlosable data. (projects and such)

I want to partition 10GB for a Linux distro for a dual-boot on that HDD.

Will it reformat my Harddrive? Whats the best way of doing this without losing everything?

    Which one?

Most of the installers I've seen have an option to configure your own set of partitions, by dropping you into (probably) disk druid (it's like fdisk, only better).
A backup is definitely a good idea, just in case finger trouble and/or unexpected bugs happen.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

    Hey Salem,

it was going to be Red Hat 9, but im probably going to go with Fedora core 5.

Is there an easy way to backup 70GB of data without a DVD burner?

I prefer a second HDD, but other than that, a tape drive would be fun too...
