Anyone got Freedom Fighters?

I'm posting this on the off-chance that someone else has EA's Freedom Fighters and has (or has heard of) a problem I'm having with it.

Basically when I get to the post office map (about 10 minutes into the game) it crashes. By it, I mean my system. My monitor goes into standby and if I try to take it out it goes straight back in. The only way I can get out of it is to hard restart.

I've tried everything, my drivers are up to date, there are no patches (that I'm aware of). The funny thing is the game ran fine on my ........ty laptop.

My specs:

Geforce 6600GT
1GB RAM
Intel P4 3GHz

None of my other games do this.

Reinstall?

Of the information you provided, nothing would clue me in on the game making your computer crash like that.

This is the 3rd reinstall. Maybe it just hates me.
Meh, didn't want to play it anyway...



Oh the sound locks up like a second before it dies. It can't be my sound card can it? I mean it's fine doing everything else.

How about running a virus scanner, perhaps.

I'd suspect that your computer had some device that the game didn't react with, but I couldn't imagine it would run at all if that was the case. The point where it crashes... does anything special happen there? A really big cutscene or something or is it just a regular part of the game?

It's just a regular part of the game. I'd run a virus scan but it runs automatically at 8am every day so I thought it would have picked it up by now.
