Fake spyware

Ok, my problem is not spyware but the execute file says my computer has spyware and I need to buy the software it shows when i click it. The icon on the task bar says: "System Instrusion Detected!" and its icon looks like window automatic update with the red 'X' flashing.

I know it is faking because i just clean my computer with like 3 software already, and i had manually deleted some of the file myself. Everything is clean and the spyware sign is negative. So can anyone help me out to remove this stupid file? It's getting so annoying because of the balloon popup every single 5 seconds when i close it (counted myself). Please help.

Turn off windows firewall, if that doesnt help go into cntrl+akt+delete and end all processes that are for user(#). Then maybe try and delete any processes with the substring "windows" in it.

My window firewall was off because i used Norton. I tried Ctrl+Alt+Delete and ended the user's programs but did not help. Nothing appear to be the one to end the fake pop up.

Your first problem.

It sounds like you may have WinFixer 2005. It's a spyware/malware that embeds into the registry. It pops up a window saying you need to scan your computer or it has detected spyware, blah, blah. It directs you to a site where it will scan your system.......for 40 bucks.

Spybot S&D, AdAware, and AVG Free have all been updated recently to address WinFixer 2005 and it's variants.

I was gonna suggest something like what Bubba said, but I didn't know if there was anything recent that did that and could get by spyware killers...

My advice is to get rid of Norton. It embeds into the registry worse than spyware, slows your system down, and performs horribly. Half of the known viruses simply get by it.

AVG Free is an extremely good virus scanner and it has free updates. I use AVG Free, Zone Alarm, and SpyBot S&D and I never have any issues. I'll never go back to retail crap unless it's AVG Professional, or Zone Alarm Pro.

don't forget the free version of ad-aware. while ad-aware and spybot will catch most of the same stuff, you'll still get a bunch of stuff caught by one that the other doesn't get.

avg is all you need. and yeah, screw norton. I can't even remove it on my other pc here, there was a default installation of it, and NO uninstall.exe fugging annoying. And there's tons of registry entries because of it. >___<

avg is the only virus scanner you need... zonealarm is a firewall and spybot and ad-aware are programs that scan for adware...

Ok, I uninstalled Norton and installed AVG. Then I used spyware doctor to scan for malware or any spyware present in the registry or temporary folder. It found all of them and they were going bye bye. I thought it was done but the "internet update - fake spyware" icon still popping up and down on my task bar. I went into safemode and tried to see if any strange program is running, but couldn't find anything. I scanned again and it showed that my computer was clean. Anyone have any ideas???

My is on, so it is not about the firewall. Now it is getting really annoying. It automatically install a software called "SpywareStrike 2.5". I uninstalled it like hundred times but it keep comming back and said: "your computer has spywares, please buy the software to remove them".

Is your messenger service on (in admin tools/services, not IM type messenger)? I remember an old problem where anyone could send you system popups if it was enabled. I don't know if microsoft managed to fix it, but I always make sure to disable it each new install.
