I'm looking for a Linux guru!
I've got a Logitech USB headset microphone and I'm having trouble getting it to work; it's not exactly P&P. Are there any modules I should be loading?

Good class architecture is not like a Swiss Army Knife; it should be more like a well balanced throwing knife.

hotplug should be activated during bood
hardware detection ( frequently kudzu ) tool should run during boot
with both of those you should get a config screen during the boot sequence to configure the mic.
if not, then run the usbview, this will collect the data being offered by the mic, allowing you to do a search for the specific modules [ drivers ] for it.
if you can't find the software for it, usbview will allow you to make note of what the mic is looking for and then you can either submit to distro for getting driver written / included, or write the driver yourself.
