    Buying RAM (how many pins?)

So right now I'm on newegg. I'm buying a second 512mb for my main computer...I'm positive it's 184 pin. But I have 3 older computers in my basement that I'm picking up some little 128mb sticks for. I got them here and there from thrift shops etc, so I don't have any papers/books/information on them, other than the fact that they work, and that they need a little ram

How can I tell if it needs 184 or 168 pin RAM? Is there a way to tell? Are they're any rules of thumb?

168 is for SDRAM, DDR is 184.
