    Need Laptop Recommendations

My wife and I are going to get a laptop, and I need some recommendations. I really like Toshibas (Tecra or Satellite) and I've heard good things about them. Dell is also on the list, but I'd take suggestions from others as well.

Budget is ~$1000 to $1200 or so. I want Centrino, with a 1.4GHz processor or better and a decent screen (something that wouldn't be horrible to watch movies on). It doesn't have to be anything super great otherwise. We're just going to use it as a business/study PC.

I'm really interested in the Toshibas, but I don't know anything about their models.

I think if I end up going Dell, I'm going to get a 600m unless someone can convince me otherwise.

    Help?

How about an Alienware? I've always wanted to know someone who has one!

Why bother with a laptop though? Why not build a midrange system that uses a Sempron or equivalent and shoot for a nice big monitor?

I already have my desktop for the gaming stuff.. haha... I was kind of looking towards IBM or DELL.... I want a laptop that I can use linux on.... (LOVES linux) and in a good $600 - maybe $1300 price range.... I've looked at a few... and I found one thats about $1200 and I kind of like it... I just want to think about it for a while more.... I was thinking about a customized ThinkPad R50e.... anyone care to push me into another direction?

I ended up getting a Dell 600M and everyone is telling me I've made a good choice (especially my brother who will soon have his second one).

    Thumbs up

Dell laptops are pretty good for the price, but if you want an all around quality laptop, then I say go for an IBM thinkpad, especially if you use linux or dual boot w/ linux and windows then I strongly suggest it.
