    PC Issue: Repeated Long Beeps

Okay according to documentation, repeated long beeps when the computer starts means the memory problem. I confirm the memory works on another computer; and I tried a memory from a working computer--same thing, repeated long beeps. Tried the other slot, same thing. Not putting memory at all, same thing.

It's built-in video card, so no way it's not seated properly. I dusted everything. Reset the bios (by taking out the battery for 30 minutes).

Before it happened, I was swapping the CD drive with another. Worked fine. Swapped them back. Did not test it, but I went to PC store to get a new CD Drive. Then I plugged in the new CD drive and I got the repeated long beeps. Put back the old CD drive, same thing.

Any other suggestion to troubleshoot it? THanks

Edit: 1 beep is about 7 seconds long, then 4 seconds delay, and looping.

Edit again: I bent a pair of pin on the mobo for CD drive, and likely it happened today. I straightened it already, but could the mobo have been damaged when I bent the pin, and cause that beeps?

THe RAM may not be compatible with your Mobo...check to see that it is because that is exactly what sounds like the problem is. Try some of the known good RAM and see if that works in the comp just to make sure the RAM slot isnt bad.

Is not compatibility issue 'cause the RAM was working fine together with the Mobo. I tried known good RAM and still giving the same beeps. So, likely the RAM slot, huh? Both slots give the same. Anyhow, I already bought another mobo and it's working fine. I'll tinker with the old mobo to make sure whether it's still usable or not. Thanks.

quickly pass a magnet over each ram board. Could be static electricity, or magnetic interferance. This worked for me some time ago.

I don't have a magnet laying around. How big is it supposed to be anyway? Is there not another way?

    Thumbs up

    Code:
quickly pass a magnet over each ram board.

Also placing ram in direct sunlight works wonders

I would send the mobo back to the manufacturer if you bought it new. I've had bad memory slots before on mobos and there is no way to fix them. I was limited to 1 slot on that motherboard at the time and it sucked.
