That's got to be one of the most incoherent posts ever. You don't want to register with Microsoft because you think Microsoft might not be Microsoft? And you think they'll sell your e-mail address?

You look like you're extremely paranoid because you're stupid and clicked a bad link. I don't see how that's MS's fault, and it sure as hell isn't an oxymoron.

I was never asked for an email address when I verified my Windows box.

If I don't give them one, how can they sell it? (errr... are you being sarcastic?)

How are you supposed know if it is a bad link? Or a link that will get you hijacked? Where is it posted that “You will get hijacked if you click this link”?

AVG During the installation asks for

    user name
    company name
    license/sales number

“You will find your License/Sales Number
    -in the e-mail address or
-on the product registration card. Or
    -on the retail package label”

Since it was a download there was no retail package label. There was no product registration card. Most of the antispyware and other programs asks for an email address. For free software.

I would prefer to be paranoid than to be victemized.
Ober a trojan can collect information off of your computer and do other stuff.

It is one thing to go through the registry and clean it and try to figure what is not suposed to be there. and not get hijacked again.

For one thing, online casinos are pretty notorious for being bad places. If you haven't heard of it, don't click on it.

Check AVG's EULA - I bet they have an option to opt out of receiving any extra mail. I use AVG and barely get any spam, even on a hotmail account.

You had to sign up with an e-mail address here - why do you trust a couple kids running a website and not a big company?
