but when i make an attempt to call another computer it says i am behind a firewell(which i m not..neither is my proxy server).is it due to a proxy setting or its smthng else?i went for the help pages but cudnt find nethng helpful.

    thanx in advance

um...a proxy server is a firewall...you need to open up a port. Let us know if you don't know how to.

I've never used ccproxy, but it should have help pages on how to open a port. As for your VOIP in ymsg, I really couldn't say. Try opening the port first, if it doesn't work, then it probably requires the usage of a protocol that ccproxy blocks (like VPN connections require certain ports along with protocol 47 aka GRE).

I don't use windows servers as proxies, I would recommend linux or *bsd. Most leading distros have packages that can be configured during the initial install that will make the box a proxy with little or no extra configuration. You can give that a shot, if you like. However if you get ccproxy to work you might as well leave it.

Let me know if you need anything else.

most distro's will set up samba for you. If you just want to try running knoppix (bootable linux cd) it will automatically configure samba for you. It's completely seamless. Linux see's windows shares and windows will see linux shares. No configuration is required there. Good luck.
