My internet keeps disconnecting every 10-30 minutes.
It reconnects as soon as it disconnects, but if i am playing a game i get kicked off the server, and all my internet programs like AOL have to reconnect.
Before i formated that only happened if i installed Emule
But now it happens all the time.
What could be causing the problem?

is dialup AOL, or broadband?
If dialup, I had a similar situation years ago that whenever someone called me I got disconnected...

Not AOL though, my ISP is PenData.
The problem however seems to be caused by my computer not the ISP or my modem and router..

Do a virus scan. Sounds like you may have a serious version of AOL on your computer.
Other than that is it a linksys router? I have a linksys and it randomly disconnects often and has been for years. Yes it is very annoying especially when it does it every hour in the middle of a game.
Might wanna directly connect to the internet and see if it happens at all. If it doesn't maybe replace the router with a different brand...netgear maybe?
I got Linksys router, too, and it does get disconnected so often. I was thinking that it was because of the nature of the network I'm in (I'm not supposed to have a router), but it could be because the router sucks.

I had a lot of trouble with my D-Link router when I first got it. It traspired the firmware in the router was not the correct version for Scandinavia, I flashed the router with new software and it has been fine since.
What is irritating is that the issue is well known, but does not appear on their website. It took a call to their help centre in Sweden to be told "Oh, yes, that's well known, I'll send you the correct software". I asked why they sold the things here with the wrong software, but the help desk twit had no answer.

Funny that no one has tried to blame the modem. I have a Linksys router and modem and both work great. If there is a router in this network, try connecting directly through the modem to see if it still cuts out.
I used to have a similar problem, however the disconnects werent so often. I changed my ethernet card, tried a direct connect to the computer, got a new modem and it still happened. One guy came and looked at my lines, disconnected and reconnected them, and it has been pretty stable since.
Have someone check out your signal, or get a new modem as ober suggested.

Well my D-Link router works great! So does my Modem!
The problem was in my LAN card.
It took alot of poking around to realise that it wasnt the modem, router or my hardware.
I checked all my internet settings to find out that the computer turns of the LAN card to save power for some reason. I unchecked the option and i haven't gotten a random disconnect for about 10Hr!!!!
Hmm... laptop or desktop? My wife's Gateway desktop shuts down her NIC when the PC goes to sleep and sometimes it won't even register her with the router again until you do an ipconfig release/renew.
Although, now that I think about it, it's been a while since that happened, and I've formatted and reinstalled XP since then, so maybe that fixed it.
When downloading from BitTorrent or doing anything else network intensive my computer used to freeze and then restart. I had to replace the netgear lan card which apparantly has buggy drivers and it now works fine. I also have a d-link router which disconnects every so offen but I think that junk is a lost cause.
