    Dual Display issue

This isn't a serious issue, just somthing thats bugging me. I added an old 4MB S3 ViRGE card to use for a second moniter. My primary moniter is on an 128MB Radeon 9200SE. However the moniter on the 4MB card is trying to be moniter 1 (in the display properties). I want it to be moniter 2. How do I do this?

    I think this would work:

    Open Display in Control Panel.

On the Settings tab, click the monitor icon that represents the monitor you want to designate as the primary one.

Select the "Use this device as the primary monitor" check box. (Under the screen resolution slide)

This check box is unavailable when you select the monitor icon that is currently set as your primary monitor.

    Hope that helps.

Your radeon isnt seup to handle two monitors? Or is this for a third?

Since that didnt work, uninstall al the drivers for both cards. Install the radeon in single mode, it will take primary, if it doesnt force it too. Then install drivers, if you have them, for the other card, and it will assign as monitor two.

The suggestion by spud should work, if not your 4mb card might not allow the radeon to be the primary....i've never used two seperate cards so without being at your pc im not really sure. Try the driver trick because if you installed the 4mb card in a already setup system it might be "overriding" the radeon in the file system. Just like if you install XP after linux it will overtake the MBR.

After you do this, does the

"Use this device as the primary monitor"

    stay faded?

    if it does

Does "Expand my windows desktop onto this monitor" Become available?

If it does, check it and you'll see "Use this device as the primary monitor" will become available, then check it and click ok.

What that does is move your display to both monitors, then switches them. Once it's switched, you should be able to deselect the old one.

If this doesn't work, i've done all I can.

nope, that didn't do it. I did the driver thing, the Radeon is checked as Primary etc etc, but it still insists on reading as moniter 2.

the 9200se is a PCI card, and so is the S3
