I know, you said you have an ac97 codec chip (onboard sound). But I think I'd go with salem's suggestion and get away from the assembly, it just doesn't make sense to beat your head against the wall on this just to say you did it, I'm sure if you contacted the company who made it, they would tell you what port it operates on.
