    I know, you said you have an ac97 codec chip (onboard sound). But I think I'd go with salem's suggestion and get away from the assembly, it just doesn't make sense to beat your head against the wall on this just to say you did it, I'm sure if you contacted the company who made it, they would tell you what port it operates on.     thanx waldo.. ive really been beating my head against the wall.. lol. i ll check out my mobo's manual and see if that is of some help. and i think i ll look into win32 as well. will go with salem's suggestion. thanx for the help guys.
