Ok, here's what I want.

A DVR with 20/40 hours record time, no phone activation/connection. I just want a recorder and something I can pause/rewind/FF(paused tv obviously) live tv with. I don't want a monthly service and I want it to be less than $100.

I've searched on ebay and froogle and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. And no, I don't want to setup a PC to do it. I want a stand-alone piece of equipment that'll do it.

I have contacted my cable company, but they want $13/mo. for the service plus the hardware rental. I say F them. They won't even have them available here until the end of the month or early next month.

Any suggestions?

Nope... not what I'm looking for. I guess what I really want is a TiVo system without the service and setup.

Well, I've emailed a TiVo dealer and he said that if I get a Series 1 (pre-October 2001 or something), I can use it without the service, like I want. Now I just have to find one. I think I saw one on Ebay for like $80 USD or so.
