When booting, after bios and before the xp logo shows, press f8 for options. If the option to disable automatic restart is there, highlight that and press enter. On the next boot, you should be able to then see the error message. Let us know what it says.

What do you remember from your last good reboot? Was there any visible spyware/adware installed (perhaps near the start button)? Did you delete/uninstall anything?

OK here is whats been happening. I installed The Sims 2 a few days ago and ran fine. After a few days the sims would completly frezz the pc and would have to just turn it off when its running. I ran the sims in windowed mode samething but it said there was a "D3DERR_INVALIDCALL!" error witch is a invaild pointer to a directX object. I thouht i should run scan disk because its been sometime. I ran it and it said i need to restart. So I did and when the scan disk started it said "can't open volume for direct access". I thought that was odd so I tried to start in safe mode by pressing f8. I sat there for about 5 min and it didn't boot. The hard drive light was on and it wasn't blinking at all but i didn't even hear it reading. So I just turned it off. I tried it again and waited longer about 30 min this time. Samething happed again. I booted normal and it worked. I want to try safe mode one more time and samething happend. Went to normal boot now its doing the thing i told you about before with the blue sceen.
Waldo2k2 I didn't see anything about auto restart. All i've been able to see on the error is something about uninstall and a few mem adress that start with a lot of 0's. Stan100 ever thought i its been some time seince my last virus scan or spyware check i haven't seen any odd programs running at anytime.

Just to let you know this computer doesn't have a A drive because it is a new laptop. And I think it would be a go idea to cheack to see if this problem could be caused by virus. Anyone know of a bootable virus scan that goes on to a cd?

i took a pic of the the screen and it say the following:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmention or backup untilties. Check your hard drive configuration. and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corrution, and then restart your computer.

yea blue screen usually something to do with hardware
when dealing with xp, did you recently install new drivers
for anything or hardware, even the simplest of items,
you should uninstall, or roll back the drivers, by
getting into safemode if your unable to get into
regular windows at anytime.
if thats not it, then check your GFX heatsink/fan
the fans on GFX cards fans commonly go out,
and if the card is heating up due to alot of sim action
then that coudl cause your blue screen also.
There is only one fan on the laptop and it seem to be running all the time i don't think that it is an hardware problem and that doesn't explain my scan disk problem. But any way can you just restore system files of xp back on the hard drive with the xp cd? Can it be done from the Recovery console?

Ok, so you still can't boot in. You're positive you have no virus? Did you try putting in a Norton Cd and booting with it? It'll virus check it right there for you. Did you make recovery CD's? It sounds like maybe you did something worse than install Sims 2. I don't like XP's scandisk, its too slow now.
Give us a list of what you are positive, it makes fixing things a LOT easier

I ran a scan disk from my xp cd and now it works. Really sorry about bugging you guys. I did a virus and spyware scan and nothig. I use AVG for virus scaning and ad-aware 6.0 for spyware.

I figured it was a disk problem, I bet that the error was caused by sims exiting incorrectly, which probably messed up something in the file table. Make sure you have the latest video drivers to ensure something like that doesn't happen again.
