Was it just once or has this happened before/after? And is it because of the same thing (.pdf file, or maybe your virus scanner)?
I had this problem a while ago, and it turned out to be that my UPS wasn't working. Go to run and type in:
services.msc
And go to UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), and check to see if it's running properly.

Yeah, echo Stan100. I too have had trouble with the UPS. I've also been led to believe that a problem with memory (insufficient for your OS, maybe?) can also be the culprit.

I coudnt startup the UPS. I get a "Error 2481: The UPS is not configured correctly" message. Guess I will go check up what is that message first.
If it's not that, it could be your PSU, connection at the motherboard, or a variety of other things including overheating.
A little history would help, but if this is a one time thing, chock it up to randomness. I've had weirder things happen than a simple reboot.
Possibly bad RAM, or, if you're Overclocking, too high of a FSB.
In my experience random reboots are caused by unstable RAM, which of course, could be the fault of a bad PSU as well.

right click on my computer and open propertis. click advanced, go down to settings for startup and recovery. Under system failure at the bottom, uncheck "auto reboot".

I would also check the heat of the CPU to see that its not overheating (I had that problem).
