Is it bad to burn out a PCI slot on the mother board? Because our 56k modem "fried" one of our PCI slots.
Is that really bad, besides the loss of 1 PCI slot?

I'm no expert on motherboards, but I think that if your mobo is still working the rest of it is probably fine. I did have an experience however with a faulty motherboard which fried, and when it did it also burned out the circuits in my graphics card. If you haven't already, test everything else out to see if it works, and then you can probably assume yourself safe.
OMG! Well right after our vid card turned to crap and now doesn't work. I think it burned out the, umm...forgot name of thing, the part were the monitor cord hooks into the vid card. Cause the vid carded in general worked but the monitor thing didn't. :'(
Is you PC made of firecrackers !?
Do you know why all this has happened? So I wont do it to mine...
What is C++?
and how exactly did you determine that the card worked but the DB-25 connecter did not? It all depends on how it was fried and what went down. It's possible that you won't see any problems if the rest of it works, but random errors and other problems could creep up if other components were affected.Originally Posted by Rune Hunter
I know the DB-25 connector (knowen as the VGA connector) got wrecked is because...
It worked before this all happened. It worked just fine not counting the fact that it was in a PCI slot but it recomened a AGP slot. (We got no AGP slots :'( ).
what are you talking about?? If the card doesn't work, the connector won't work. The connecter is just an interface between the cable connection and the electronics on the card. Your card is bad, not the connector.
You've been very unclear and I'm afraid we can't help until you give more details.
DB-25 is a printer port.... try HD-15?
hello, internet!
lol that wasn't my question. But anyasy the card DID work...until it was droped AFTER we has all of the probeblems. The card registered, so on. But the connector didn't work.
Now I am thinking of hanging it on my wall in my room.
We now got a ATI Radeon 9200 PCI 256mb ddr ram 128bit
Really nice card but our procesor is only 1.10Ghz (1.095 to be more exact) and that is NOT good for games I found out.
