    domain name acts somehow strange

    Hey everyone,

Currently i have been working on a website for a Nigerian based NGO called CEO as im an active member of it it i thought i should just contribute some again.
Alright so far introduction now the problem.

The site is located at http://users.telenet.be/CEO/
Recently i registered domain name with Dot TK .
The domain name is www.globalceo.tk .
Now when you follow the first link and press the contact or projects button, more buttons will appear in the leftframe.
But this doesnt seems to work when accesing the site trough the domain name...

Any thoughts on how to resolve.
Note that i never did html and this is more or less my biggest html project so far... i have been using the silly dreamwaver program just for my own convience sake, although i know it just makes the code messy and throws in alot of useless code...

Anyhow feel sorry for me as im just trying on this one.

    Greets and thanks in advance,

    Ganglylamb.

PS: sorry if this was not the right place to post a thread like this but as i know lots of you have their own homepage i thought you guys would still be able to help me out...

Using Opera 7.54, no buttons show up on the left using either link when pushing the 2 buttons you mentioned.

Edit: seems to work about half in MyIE2 and IE. Although... I see you're using FRAMES. BAD! *smack* Bad bad bad. Use divs for layout and never use frames. They are a bad idea.

Just because you use IE doesn't mean your users are going to. If you are really going to do this right, you need to download all of the browsers and test your work in all of them (Opera, Netscape, Firefox, etc.).

And by the way... Dreamweaver will likely let you do things that you shouldn't be doing because it'll look ok in IE. It's not because the other browsers suck, it's because IE doesn't follow the standards.

Frames are poor for layout and should only be used as a last resort. I used to think they were ok, but I'm in the process of ripping them out of all the sites I work on.

edit: and just for clarification, a "div" is a divider/division in the page. It allows you to create containers for content. You can then place these containers wherever you want and they are far more controllable than frames. You should also consider learning CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) because HTML is a markup language, not a style language.

    Frames are bad cuz:
Search Engines may not spidor what you may wanted them to.
    Bookmarks.

You should rather use Tables or Borders. And since you have no html skills or even design skills i recommend you use MS-FrontPage or Word to design pages.

It is better to register .com .net or .org domains rather than .ca .tk .jp.....

Also try to find a banner free hosting service or host it yourself (which means that you havbe to leave your computer on 24/7)

btw, whats the purpose of this ngo?

Well the purpose of this NGO is quite broad...
First of all its based in Nigeria ( to be precise Lagos, one of the most corrupted and dirty-est cities in the whole world - me myself i spend 9 months in Lagos ).

So what we are trying to do is :
And now follows the list of aims we have right now.....

make sure everyone gets clean water running from the tap, because in most areas water is not even coming out of the tap and when it is you can see dirt floating around in it ( reminds me of the time when i wanted to take my shower every morning i went with mu bucket to take water from the tap and i had to wait for 30 minutes to let everything sink down and then poor the water into another bucket thus leaving the dirt in one bucket and have some "clean" water to take my shower).
Even if water runs dont expect a high pressure behind it i used to wait for like 30 minutes to fill up a bucket of 10 Liters...

When i was in Nigeria we also started giving lectures to kiddos in secondary school about why its important they know how to use comps, at the end we setted up a small school with 10 systems, a generator (because of constant power failures) and we had 2 teachers teaching the kids, one in afternoon and one in the morning, all of this was of course a completely free course ( they didnt ahd to pay anything). We learned them how to work with MsWord Exel and others from the office package.

Recently ( unfortunately i was not there when it happened ) we had a seminar and a full project about HIV/AIDS awareness, which was really a succeeded project since alot of ppl showed up to volunteer and alot of nonsense about the virus were clarified after the lectures we gave...

Healthcare is the next step when i was in Nigeria we went to the Commisionar of Lagos and tried to free some funds ( as this is an NGO money needs to come from somewhere )....
Our appraoch towards him was good but due to several reasons we were unable to complete this task.
We needed the fundings to make a toilet availble for alot of ppl.Because right now this is the situation:

Fishermen live along the mainland of Lagos and around victoria Island of Lagos, they live in dumps and those dumps are built onto the water ( made out of wood )...They dont have a decent toilet and what they do is they just go and do their thing into the water...
Let me remind you there are 15 million people living in Lagos City alone, everybody does his thing and in most houses the faeces are being captured into a sink BUT when they empty it they take the truck full of faeces and go stand onnto Third Mainland Bridge and just dump it into the water ( this is illegal and is a public secret but it happens during the night )...

Now in the morning the fishermen awakes and he goes out fishing right onder the bridges most of the times, imagine the quality of the water and also the quality of the fish being captured...Before you know it you are practically eating your own faeces....

So what we wanted to do about this was build public toilets ( during my time in Nigeria - 1 year- i have only seen one Public toilet ) around and into these fishermen communities, it would be done first as trial version in one community ( right now we think of getting funding trough the Oba´s which are the native Kings and ancient rulers of the land )...We would keep an eye on the project and see the evolution and how things are going...
Also a enlightment campaign should start about the public toilets, that they are not houses and that they should be left intact ( ie dont take stones or roofing away because you yourself need to fix something in or around your house ) ....

Anyway to keep it short we are doing alot of things and are planning on doing alot of things...

Normally we hold an online conference trough yahoo messenger every week-end to get together and talk about recent evolutions etc...
Since I am here some in norway and most in nigeria itself...

I hope i clarified some things for you right now...
Its time to get the webpage up because all this info needs to be sorted out and get available to public seriously alot of thing are going wrong in Nigeria ( just like in other west african countries ) and western people need to be educated about this in a harsh way, showing nice images of kenya doesnt mean anything when behind the scenes strange and odd things are going on for instances....

    Greetings,

    Ganglylamb
