    BioInformatics

    Hello All,

I am raising this query behalf of my friend. She is Electrical Engineer graduate and worked in Oracle, VB and C for two years.

She wants to start her carrer again after three years of gap. She is thinking about BioInfomatics. She used to study Bioloagy till her twelveth grade.

Currently, she is residing in California, USA. She want to use her previous experience as well as do something new, where she can get job easily.

So is Bioinfomatics correct to choose? If yes,
    1. Will she get job by doing certification courses?
    2. To what extent does she need to know biology?

    Please let me know..

If this query is not in proper place, please advise where to post in this site or outside this site?

    RT

What do you mean by "certification courses"? You usually need a BSc just to be a lab monkey in that field.

    >>2. To what extent does she need to know biology?
From what ive heard you dont need all that much, though having an interest in it would be helpfull just to mainain sanity. Bioinformatics is more about data processing than the biology itself... there are biologists around to handle that side of it
