    Question The Sims

Any help would be most appreciated!

I am looking to write a "Sims Personality Editor" that actually does as advertised. I recently purchased one that does not work very well and "tech" support was not very helpful.

However, I cannot find any information on how to read the character files.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advanced!

    Chuck

Indeed. Use the cheat codes. If that doesn't strike you, give the character the inverse of the desired stats, and then have it drink a yellow potion.

www.wotsit.org has all the common file formats. I somehow think this is just wee bit out of their jurisdiction. Oh well. I tried.

Too bad Bytamin-c went down. People there were a lot nicer.

At least Sean had the decency to respond positively.

If the rest of you had even taken a minute to look you would have seen that I was new to this board. I only picked one of the most logical places to post.

Obviously I'm dealing with "professionals" on this board that don't have time for us little folk.

Hope your encounter with other people is as rewarding as mine was.

    Thanks for the help.

We're not the only help group. If you don't like our way of doing things, you aren't forced to post here.

    >If the rest of you had even taken a minute to look
The rest being pianorain? This is your only thread and only two people aside from you replied to it. You've excluded sean_mackrory, so I've concluded that you're immature and easily insulted. Off-topic and vague questions such as the one you posted usually attract at least one sarcastic response.

    >you would have seen that I was new to this board
And if you have taken a minute to look at our rules and sticky threads, you would have seen that your question as posted sucks (not to mention it's also on the wrong forum).

    >Obviously I'm dealing with "professionals" on this board that don't have time for us little folk.
Obviously you're mistaken or these "professionals" wouldn't waste their valuable time volunteering their help here.

    >Hope your encounter with other people is as rewarding as mine was.
I find it very rewarding, but occasionally I run up against people such as yourself that add unnecessary friction to the process.

Sorry to tell you this dude, but I was actually being a little sarcastic...

edit: As far as the forums go, this would probably be most appropriate in the General Discussions forum. Don't post another thread there, otherwise people get ........ed off. Send a PM to one of the administrators and ask them to move it

edit: Also: The main thing you need first is the file format for the character files. www.wotsit.org is useful for more professional topics, so you may find it useful later. Meanwhile, the only thing I can recommend is a solid search of google.

edit: and RobC, there was another post earlier. Something to the effect of "just because you plan to code it in C++ doesn't not make it a C++ topic"

How is that when the OP has two posts and both of them are in this thread? Is he using another account that you're aware of?

Oh! Ha ha... No - you said that it was kind of stupid for him to refer to "the rest of" us, when only me and pianorain had responded. Someone else replied to this thread a little earlier. It must've just been deleted or something.

    Yeah, I've been a-moving and a-snipping
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

Unfortunately, I'm partially serious. Since I doubt anyone on the boards has the proprietary knowledge you seek, I expect you'll have to do some savegame mapping of your own. The easiest way to do that is by using cheat codes to change values and monitoring what happens in the new savegame.
