I think that might help, honestly i think you should just install linux or any *nix at that and leave it at the command prompt only though.
Because I can't.
i have absolutely no experience in linux or any other *ix operating systems, plus i want to lear DOS a bit more before experimenting with one of them.
I have already done a google search for an installation disk for DOS up to 6.22, coultn' find any. The only one i found was DOS 7.1 which i only want as a last resort. Does anybody know where i could possibly find downloadable installation disks for DOS 6.22 or below?

You might give freedos a try.
Snide remarks from others aside, some folks are still interested in dos. You might also check out here and the dos index .
FreeDOS is really convenient for doing OS development with. Instead of having to use an emulator to test everything, you can test a lot of it natively.
I'd DEFINITELY go with FreeDOS if I were you.
yeah, freedos is just as good as 6.22...maybe better since i think it's open source isn't it? But like others have mentioned linux, it's very easy to learn, especially if you're just working from the command line. I'd at least give it a look, can't hurt. Just download a boot disk for some version of it and give it a go.
