I can't figure out how to setup NFS on my network.

I have 2 (soon to be more) boxes running RH9. Both of them are configured as servers. They are plugged into the same router. Neither can see the other in any way shape or form. I have spent over a week trying to get NFS set up on them, but none of the tutorials I have found have been any help. Can anyone help me?

Going to need more background on how you have your network setup, what you have tried, etc.

For now it is 2 junky linux boxes connected to a router, which is also connected to dsl. They can get online just fine, but have no internal communication. The instructions we were given wanted us to setup samba, which would only see this win2k box that was sharing our dsl. My main issue is probably just that I only have about 2 weeks of linux experience and have had to try to wing it as I go. I'm very familiar with how to do this stuff under Windows (i'm gonna be taking the CCNA exam soon), but am completely clueless as to what I should really be doing under linux. Eventually this mess is going to be made into a beowulf, but that involves getting the bastards to talk to each other first.

What router? Are you sure it's configured to allow networking between the computers? You could have saved yourself some money and just bought a second NIC card and used on of the Linux boxes as your router.

I didn't pay for it, it was something my boss had laying around. It's made by some company called netgear and has 8 ethernet ports. The boxes are both pretty junky. One of them doesn't quite meet RH9's requirements and it shows. The other has enough ram to sort of make up for it but it still blows. This is just our test setup to see if we can do it before we get some real machines in to play with. I'm one of the only 2 people that put any real time into the project (the other guy don't know much linux either) and then we have 4 or 5 others who show up occasionally. At this point we just want some thing quick and dirty to do some file sharing with so that we can feel like we've accomplished something.
