    Freaky WIN2k network ops

Haha, my mom got nuked somehow. Her pc would boot and POST then stop. No beep codes, Keyboard lights normal, HDs spinning, etc. I got the boot order in line and restored WIN2k from the install cd and got back to a semi-original state. I had to do some registry cleansing (though its not related to the following problem)... I had to set up a new dial-up connection to SBCYahoo forher. I went on over to the Network and Dial-up Connections in the CP window. Then I made a new conn. and "set it up manually." From here I chose modem (and yes the correct drivers are installed) and skipped the next tab dealing with the user/pass (its not a required part). I then hit a wall. The edit box to enter a name for the connection refuses to let me enter a valid name. I type "SBCYahoo" or "sbcyahoo" or "the" or "a" and the names are refused. According to the dialog box that pops, none of those are valid names and must constain at least one character not begining with a space or a period. THEY DON'T. I rebooted and tried again. SAME THING. What in the GDMF'ing heck is going on?????

Noper. And I still can't get it to work! I'm about to blow $500+ on a wi-fi system for four households in our neighbor hood and charge them for service so I can pay my bills and get some profit off the top...

Last time something like that happened to me it was because I spilled a beer on the keyboard. Did you try another keyboard just for laughs? Maybe open notepad or something and see if what you're typing is what you're seeing.

No, its not the keyboard all the keys work. Does anyone have any serious reasons here?

actually it was a serious suggestion, if a key is stuck somehow or not functioning properly, it could be constantly sending a message to windows (such as a number or special character) which gets rejected in the input box. Other than that I'm fresh out of ideas.
